Acoustics Laboratories
was established with the purpose of providing the company with a dedicated facility to test the acoustic performance of its products. The corporate project that led to the creation of the laboratory is part of the research into increasingly high-performing technical solutions from an acoustic standpoint, offering the possibility of obtaining immediate feedback on the effectiveness of design choices through direct measurements on samples. The laboratory structure consists of two adjacent semi-reverberant rooms with an interposed test opening where the sample to be tested is placed.
The laboratory was built according to the specifications contained in the UNI EN ISO 10140 series standards, based on a design by Istituto Giordano, and is located on the ground floor of the MTS s.r.l. production plant in Forlì. The test environments were designed to perform acoustic measurements of airborne sound insulation and sound reduction index in compliance with the following technical standards:
UNI EN 10140-1: Acoustics – Laboratory measurement of sound insulation of buildings and of building elements – Part 1: Application rules for specific products.
UNI EN 10140-2: Acoustics – Laboratory measurement of sound insulation of buildings and of building elements – Part 2: Measurement of airborne sound insulation.
UNI EN 10140-4: Acoustics – Laboratory measurement of sound insulation of buildings and of building elements – Part 4: Measurement procedures and requirements.
UNI EN 10140-5: Acoustics – Laboratory measurement of sound insulation of buildings and of building elements – Part 5: Requirements for test facilities and equipment.
UNI EN 717-1: Rating of sound insulation in buildings and of building elements – Part 1: Airborne sound insulation.
UNI EN ISO 3382-2: Acoustics – Measurement of room acoustic parameters – Part 2: Reverberation time in ordinary rooms.
UNI EN 14351-1: Windows and doors - Product standard, performance characteristics - Part 1: Windows and external pedestrian doorsets without resistance to fire and/or smoke leakage characteristics.
